What to do at the ER

Parents do have choices. We hope you’re never in this position, but if you ever have to go to the ER, please speak up. Make sure to ask the ER physicians to call your primary care physician (or your PCP’s office). This is especially important if your child needs to be admitted or transferred to another hospital.

And please don’t forget, parents do have a say in the provider that sees their child. And they have a choice of the facility at which their child is seen.

Speak with your child’s primary care physician if you have questions or concerns and know that we are always here for you: 847-295-1220.

Influenza Vaccine Clinics Open

Post Date: 1568347200
Status: live

Take action to prevent influenza! The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that all children ages 6 months and older are vaccinated for influenza for the 2019-2020 season, preferably by the end of October. Influenza vaccines are not licensed for infants younger than six months, and so to protect them it is important that the people around them are vaccinated and that their mothers receive the influenza vaccine during pregnancy. Scientific studies support the benefits of flu vaccination:

The influenza vaccine…
can keep you from getting sick with influenza.
can reduce the risk of influenza-associated hospitalization and death for children and others.
can be life-saving in children. Up to 80% of pediatric deaths from influenza were in children who were not vaccinated.
has been shown to reduce severity of illness in people who catch influenza.
can protect people around you, including people who are more vulnerable, like babies, young children, and those with impaired immune systems
can be given to children with an egg allergy

At Lake Forest Pediatric Associates, we have just opened up four influenza immunization clinics along with nurse appointments. Appointments are available on a daily basis beginning on Monday, September 16, 2019.

It’s not too early for your child’s influenza immunization! Call us at 847-295-1220 now for best availability

Dr. Jeff Roleck Finishes 2018 Chicago Marathon!

Post Date: 1538971200

Congratulations to Lake Forest Pediatric Associates’ pediatrician Dr. Jeff Roleck, who finished the 41st Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 7th!

Wet paving and the occasional sprinkles didn’t dampen Dr. Roleck’s enthusiasm for the popular athletic event! Starting and finishing in Grant Park, he ran the 26.2-mile course through 29 picturesque Chicago neighborhoods. An estimated 1.7 million spectators enthusiastically supported the runners by ringing bells, clapping, holding up signs, and shouting kind words of support.

This was Dr. Roleck’s 4th Chicago Marathon finish. All of us at Lake Forest Pediatric Associates are so proud of Dr. Roleck’s accomplishment!

Schedule Flu Shots Now

Influenza can be deadly for children. According to the CDC, 180 children under the age of 18 died from the flu in the past flu season. The CDC recommends everyone over the age of 6 months be vaccinated every year against the flu, unless there is a medical reason to avoid doing so.

The American Academy of Pediatrics is recommending that children be vaccinated with injectable flu vaccine for the coming season. Read here about why the injected version is recommended over FluMist.

Lake Forest Pediatric Associates is now scheduling flu shot appointments. Please call 847-295-1220 to schedule an appointment.
