Influenza Vaccine Clinics Open

Post Date: 1568347200

Take action to prevent influenza! The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that all children ages 6 months and older are vaccinated for influenza for the 2019-2020 season, preferably by the end of October. Influenza vaccines are not licensed for infants younger than six months, and so to protect them it is important that the people around them are vaccinated and that their mothers receive the influenza vaccine during pregnancy. Scientific studies support the benefits of flu vaccination:

The influenza vaccine…
can keep you from getting sick with influenza.
can reduce the risk of influenza-associated hospitalization and death for children and others.
can be life-saving in children. Up to 80% of pediatric deaths from influenza were in children who were not vaccinated.
has been shown to reduce severity of illness in people who catch influenza.
can protect people around you, including people who are more vulnerable, like babies, young children, and those with impaired immune systems
can be given to children with an egg allergy

At Lake Forest Pediatric Associates, we have just opened up four influenza immunization clinics along with nurse appointments. Appointments are available on a daily basis beginning on Monday, September 16, 2019.

It’s not too early for your child’s influenza immunization! Call us at 847-295-1220 now for best availability

What to do at the ER

Parents do have choices. We hope you’re never in this position, but if you ever have to go to the ER, please speak up. Make sure to ask the ER physicians to call your primary care physician (or your PCP’s office). This is especially important if your child needs to be admitted or transferred to another hospital.

And please don’t forget, parents do have a say in the provider that sees their child. And they have a choice of the facility at which their child is seen.

Speak with your child’s primary care physician if you have questions or concerns and know that we are always here for you: 847-295-1220.

Celebrating 50 Years of Serving the Community!

Lake Forest Pediatric Associates is celebrating 50 years of serving the community!

Although we’ve seen a lot of change over the years, the health and wellness of our pediatric patients and their families continue to be the focus of our pediatric practice.

Drs. Elmer Kadison, Ed Salter, and Gerald Lasin established the practice in 1969, joined by Dr. Arthur Lasin shortly thereafter. Our first office was located in downtown Lake Forest. A few years later, we moved the office to the campus of Lake Forest Hospital.

Today, we provide a full range of medical services for infants, children, and teens at three convenient locations in Lake Bluff, Lindenhurst and Vernon Hills. Our practice is affiliated with two first-rate hospitals, Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

As we look back, we think of all the wonderful patients and families we’ve come to know over the years. Some of our young patients today are the children and grandchildren of the practice’s first patients! Our sincere thanks go out to all the families who have placed their trust in us.

We couldn’t mark this anniversary without acknowledging our talented and caring staff for their professionalism and devotion to our patients & families!

All of us at Lake Forest Pediatric Associates look forward to many more years providing family-focused care in Northern Illinois.

Happy Thanksgiving!

If you need to contact us during that time period, please either send a message via the portal for non-emergent situations/questions or call our answering service. Vaccine Policy

Post Date: 1448946000
Status: live

The physicians and staff of Lake Forest Pediatric Associates, Ltd (LFPA) care about your child’s health. Protecting your child from vaccine preventable illness is one of the most important things we can do to ensure your child lives a long and healthy life. It is the recommendation of LFPA that all children should follow the vaccine schedule as published by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). LFPA will adhere to the recommended vaccine schedule of the state of Illinois’ required immunizations and will not support the use of delayed or alternate schedules.

In order to best protect your child, as well as all of our patients, LFPA will no longer accept patients whose parents do not vaccinate their children according to the recommended vaccine schedule. Patients who are behind on receiving the recommended vaccines will be given the opportunity to catch up through a timetable provided by their physician.

While we respect your right as a parent to make medical decisions for your child, those parents who do not wish to comply with the recommended vaccine schedule will be asked to seek medical care elsewhere.

We know that there is a lot of conflicting advice and misinformation regarding the necessity and safety of vaccines. The providers of LFPA are willing to discuss any questions regarding vaccines and provide resources for parents regarding the safety of vaccines and the recommended vaccine schedule.

Required vaccines:

* Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis
* Haemophilus influenza type b
* Hepatitis B
* Invasive pneumococcal disease
* Measles, Mumps, Rubella
* Meningococcal meningitis
* Polio
* Varicella
